The Wine
Sourced from two parcels neighboring Huet’s famed Clos du Bourg. Old vines averaging 80 years of age bring remarkable concentration and serious ageing potential. “Les Grandes Dames” translates to “The Great Ladies”, a nod to the vineyard’s oldest and most revered vines. Dense, tensile Chenin with layers and layers of pear, lanolin and a moreish wet stone minerality.

Benjamin Serer is one of the most focused young growers in Vouvray…soft-spoken yet meticulous, Serer favors discipline over stylistic gesture, letting Chenin reveal itself without interference. Benjamin’s story is a nice one. He was an acclaimed chef in Paris for none other than Alain Ducasse (3 stars Michelin if you don’t mind), moved back to Tours and opened his own brasserie before catching the vinous bug. He did internships with Vincent Caremme and Clos Naudin before renting some very old Chenin vines in 2019 and the domaine was born. In 2022 he had the opportunity to purchase some prized vineyard plots on the ‘premiere cote’ totaling 5.4 HA. One of them is practically next to Huet’s famous clos du Bourg parcel. I could write at length about these wines but I don't have the space.
They just simply must be tried. Chiselled, vibrant and mouth watering. Stunning modern-day Vouvray from the regions new star.
