People often ask how we find the small French wine producers behind Vintrepid. The short answer: slowly, and with purpose.
After more than 10 years in the London wine trade, I’ve built relationships with family domaines and artisan winemakers whose bottles consistently over-deliver — wines that once appeared on Michelin-level restaurant lists across Europe. Some are growers I’ve worked with before; others come through recommendations from producers we already import.
Between trips to France, I spend hours in research mode — studying wine lists in London and Paris, tracking what’s trending with sommeliers, reading vintage reports, and digging through importer sheets. I connect the dots to find new, independent producers worth visiting.
Then comes the real work: visiting France, tasting in the cellar, walking the vineyards, and asking endless questions to understand each grower’s craft and philosophy.
Every bottle we import is chosen with obsessive attention to detail — my own version of OCD in action. That’s what you get as part of the Vintrepid Wine Club: not just random wines turning up at your door, but true discovery in every bottle. Wines with provenance, personality, and purpose — all importer-direct from families, not factories.
